Preferences using Answer Sets

چکیده
We introduce the semantics for preference logic programs. These programs are in terms of preference rules. Apreference rule allows us to specify preferences as an ordering among the possible solutions of a problem. Moreover, our approach permits expressing preferences and desires for general theories. We useAnswer Set Programming as the formalism to develop our work.

0pt Preferred Answer Sets for Extended Logic Programs
In this paper, we extend Gelfond and Lifschitz’s answer set semantics to prioritized extended logic programs. In such programs, an ordering on the program rules is used to express preferences. We show how this ordering can be used to define preferred answer sets and thus to increase the set of consequences of a program. We define a strong and a weak notion of preferred answer sets. The first ta...

متن کاملGraphs and colorings for answer set programming with preferences: Preliminary Report
The integration of preferences into answer set programming constitutes an important practical device for distinguishing certain preferred answer sets from non-preferred ones. To this end, we elaborate upon rule dependency graphs and their colorings for characterizing different preference handling strategies found in the literature. We start from a characterization of (three types of) preferred ...
متن کاملA Selective Semantics for Logic Programs with Preferences
Answer Set Programming (ASP), has become a prominent approach for Knowledge Representation and declarative problem solving. ASP has been extended with preferences and several semantics have been proposed. Among the available semantics, the so-called selective semantics have the property of always choosing preferred answer sets from among the standard answer sets, which is a desirable property i...
متن کاملnomore<: A System for Computing Preferred Answer Sets
The integration of preferences into Answer Set Programming (ASP) constitutes an important practical device for distinguishing certain preferred answer sets from non-preferred ones. Up to now, the preference semantics we are considering in this system description were incorporated into answer set solvers either by meta-interpretation [3] or by pre-compilation front-ends [2]; therefore, such kind...
